FE Port metrics
Unisphere collects and displays metrics for FE ports.
Within the PM metrics section, V4 is used to denote that the metric is supported only by a storage system (array) running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079). V3 is used to denote that the metric is supported only by a storage system (array) running HYPERMAX OS 5977 or PowerMaxOS 5978. Metrics without the denotation are supported by all storage systems (arrays).
The following table lists all metrics that are available for FE ports.
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| % Busy | The percentage of time the port is busy. |
| Avg IO Size | Calculated value: (HA Kbytes transferred per sec/total I/Os per sec) |
| Bad Receive Char Count | The bad receive character count - covers cases where an ordered set was received with improper encoding. |
| Discarded Frames Count | The discarded frames count - frames can be discarded due to corruption, being out-of-order, unexpected delimiter, and so on. |
| Expired Frames Count | The expired frames count - frames can be discarded due to a timeout occurring when waiting for something (credit, DMA engine or something protocol dependent, and so on) |
| External Read RT | The time that it takes to process a read outside of the system. Not available for EF Ports (V4) |
| External Response Time | The time that it takes to process an I/O request outside of the system. Not available for EF Ports (V4) |
| External Write RT | The time that it takes to process a write outside of the system. Not available for EF Ports (V4) |
| Host IOs/sec | The number of I/Os the port is performing on behalf of the specific SG. |
| Host Throughput | The number of MBs the port is processing on behalf of the specific SG. |
| Internal Read RT | The time that it takes to process a read inside the system. Not available for EF Ports (V4) |
| Internal Response Time | The time that it takes to process an I/O request inside the system. Not available for EF Ports (V4) |
| Internal Write RT | The time that it takes to process a write inside the system. Not available for EF Ports (V4) |
| Invalid CRC Count | Invalid CRC count - covers cases where the frame was received with an incorrect CRC. |
| iSCSI Checksum Error Count | The number of detected high-level errors within data transmissions |
| Link Failure Count | The link failure count - covers cases where the link was up but then something went wrong at the lowest level (order sets, link recovery issues, NOS, and so on) |
| Loss of Signal Count | The loss of signal count - covers cases where the signal was present but then was lost. |
| Loss of Sync Count | The loss of Synchronization count - covers cases where the signal was present and timing was synced, but then sync was lost. |
| Max Speed | Maximum potential port speed |
| Primitive Sequence Error Count | The primitive sequence error count - covers cases where there was a violation of low-level link management protocol (primitive sequences). |
| Read RT | The average time that it takes to serve one read I/O |
| Reads/sec | The number of read operations performed by the port per second |
| Received EOFA Count | The received EOFA count - covers cases where the frame was received with a particular END-OF-FRAME delimiter indicating it should be stopped or discarded. |
| Response Time | The average response time for the reads and writes |
| Rx Power | Received Power Light Level - a measurement of the strength of the signal being received by the optic. |
| Speed | Negotiated port speed |
| Throughput Read | The read throughput (MBs) of the port per second |
| Throughput Written | The write throughput (MBs) of the port per second |
| Tx Power | Transmit Power Light Level - a measurement of the strength of the signal being transmitted by the optic. |
| Write RT | The average time that it takes to serve one write I/O. |
| Writes/sec | The number of write operations performed each second by the port. |
